German government to expand hydrogen cooperation with UAE

The German government wants to expand hydrogen cooperation with the United Arab Emirates (UAE). "The accelerated expansion of hydrogen supply chains is a very central key to the transition to sustainable energy," said German Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) in Abu Dhabi.

A total of four hydrogen cooperation agreements between German industry and one research cooperation were concluded on Monday, he said. "Especially in the production, storage and transport of green hydrogen in the UAE, and the import and application in Germany, there is a great need for research and direct implementation," Habeck said. According to the German government, the UAE wants to enable the first hydrogen deliveries to Germany in 2022. Habeck had already announced a long-term energy partnership with Qatar on Sunday.
